If one is often subjected to brooding spells over the likes of a GM car model, one may be the victim of a GM Multi Rib Belt abuse or of a GM Catalytic Converter disaster. One need not fear such things though. It is easy enough to replace such parts: this is the good news.

The fuel system pumps petrol from the tank to the engine. Older cars used to have carburetors that mix fuel with air and send the gas to the engine. Some cars have a special fuel injection system that sprays petrol into the engine. Modern cars have turbo chargers that suck in extra air and therefore create more power.

Efficiency controls both horsepower and MPG. Efficiency is increased with a longer burn time, A.K.A. flame propagation, in the cylinder. Water vapor injection slows the burn time the same as paying a higher price for higher octane at the gas pump.

So, go back two paragraphs and then you’ll find the answer to the original question is money, instant gratification and short-term thinking. I thought the American public would have seen through the smoke and mirrors during the energy crisis of the 1970’s but, even after a couple more times when the oil manipulators have controlled the lives of willing consumers, there are still those who haven’t.

The first thing to do is to lift the car using a jack. Set the stands on all the corners of the car. Make sure that you set the car high so you can work comfortably and use the reciprocating saw. You have to wear protective glasses as well as ear plugs to protect your eyes and ears.

Exhaust pipes are not just any tubes or pipes. They have been designed with precise computations and with accurate designs so as to guide these harmful gases away from the engine. You can see that the exhaust pipe is part of your vehicle’s exhaust system and it connects to the exhaust manifold of your vehicle. So as to lessen any engine noise, there is a muffler as part of it. The harmful emissions are even lessened in toxicity with the assistance of a catalytic converter recyclers.

Test the acceleration. Try to accelerate quickly from a stop, a couple hundred feet is more than enough distance for this test. It should accelerate nicely, if not, you are looking at some adjustments or repairs. If it sputters and dies – this is not a good sign. It could be simple, it could be a big problem. Have a mechanic look at it before you buy if you just gotta have THIS car.
