I’m the first to admit that housekeeping isn’t my forte. I love it when my home is fresh and sparkling, but I loathe the process of house cleaning. To be honest, I don’t understand people like my friend Kristie, who says that cleaning is therapeutic and relieves stress. Granted, I feel a bit stressed when my house is messy, but the dread of getting out the buckets and cleansers trumps any discomfort I may have. The result? I probably put more energy into feeling bad about my situation than it would take to actually clean the house.
Saturday afternoon’s last winery was Von Jakob Winery, where you can cozy up to the indoor or outdoor fireplace and sample any of their 20+ wines. We split the difference between red and white here and enjoyed Von Jakob’s White Chambourcin, and fun and fruity blush. We also picked up a few bottles for home and can definitely recommend Chateau Red, a real bargain at $11. This deep, complex red bursts with flavors of black cherry and pairs wonderfully with a grilled rib eye!
Alto Vineyards has long been on our radar. It’s the oldest and largest winery in the area and one of the most well known and respected in Illinois. This pioneering winery was the first to plant grapes for commercial wine deck builder production in the early s.
Let’s see what I mean. I’ve seen your nice ad or brochure, called you, been taken through a phone questionnaire by your very friendly and professional sounding receptionist. I agree to a sales presentation, which is also very professional and I really like the options and designs you have available. So, I decide to get a quote. Some rough headed bloke with a “rolly” hanging out the corner of his mouth turns up, pokes around my house for an hour or two, then writes $55,000 on the back of a crumpled business card. Can you see how this gives me one impression when I call you, and quite another when I see the person who’s going to be doing the job? And you’re left wondering why I didn’t buy.
OK you have your blueprint that you are your wife agree upon. Lets just say the home you choose is a ranch style home with a front two car garage, and a full daylight basement at the rear of home. The type of land you will be looking for should slope away from the road or has a relatively flat spot and then slope toward the rear. The slope toward the rear is important for your basement.
Find it on eBay – Online auctions can be a great way to find individual cards to complete your deck. Just be careful. Bidding wars can be addictive, and before you know it you’ve overpaid for your card. It’s not important to win at all cost. In fact sometimes you can get a bargain by being patient. Do your homework so you know how much the card is worth, and don’t bid more than that. Also, take time to check out the seller’s feedback before you bid. Some may misrepresent their merchandise or worse. Also, make sure they aren’t selling their cards for cheap only to make it up on shipping and handling charges.
