What was that shadow? How about that sound? How did that happen? We’ve all been there. Home alone, night time, power outage. Creepy times can create creepy thoughts. For some of us, unexplained noises and sights can be brushed aside and ignored. But for others, the nagging question of “what WAS that?” is just too difficult to ignore.
You can truly save a good deal of heating fuel by just lowering your thermostat a bit. You can save quite a good deal of money annually by lowering your thermostat 1 or 2 degrees. Having your pipes insulated will save water, save money, and prevent pipes from freezing during winter. A lot of people are assisting the Earth without even knowing that they are doing it. Many people are into recycling, but their motivation is to make some cash. People can greatly reduce waste in our landfills by merely engaging in a little recycling. In the North East and Mid-Atlantic regions of the US, clay is commonly found in the soil and even used by some contractors as fill dirty. Often contractors can build a home in an area where water is seen “running” toward the excavation hole, even when there’s been no rain. This is a bad sign, but, it rarely stops the home from being built in that area. If the basement or crawl space is placed there, usually dug to a depth of 3 to 12+ feet, and the soil contains clay that holds water in excess of 48 hours, you have a problem on your hands. Leaks will occur, sometimes quickly.
As long as the grading contractor did his job the foundation contractor should have no problems. You will have to go over the foundation blue print together. The contractor should recommend wall sizing, wall height, and, 2′ x 2′ vertical and horizontal re-bar for wall strength. You will need to pick out a mechanical room in the basement, this is a area where your potential HVAC unit, electrical panel, water heater, and well pressure tank will be placed. Tell your foundation contractor this is where your water supply will be coming in and also mention where your septic tank will be placed. In our example home with a walk out basement your septic tank will be at the rear of your home, this can change depending on land layout.
Odor removers such as bleach toilets are not good for your plumbing system. These products can be great when it comes to getting rid of odors, but unfortunately, they can cause significant damage to the rubber portions of your toilet. This can lead to it breaking down or having other issues.
Most walk in tubs come equipped with a safety bench. These are ideal for elderly individuals, who may find it difficult to sit all the way in the bottom of the tub. They are also convenient for those who still prefer to shower. As this can be tiring, the bench is there for them to take a break or catch their balance.
